Gene
Roddenberry's Andromeda is a syndicated television show airing
in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The new show
opened in 2000, produced by Tribune Entertainment, and has already
generated the number one ratings for any show in its genre, syndicated.
Pretty impressive, huh?
The series kicks off with our hero, Captain Dylan Hunt (shown in
the left photograph still and played by Kevin Sorbo), and his spaceship.
After an ambush attack by the Nietzcheans, the bad guys, he and
his ship gets sucked into a black hole. Another spaceship comes
along 300 years later and fishes him out. He's now in a vastly different
universe, where no government exists. His mission is to re-establish
the Commonwealth government among races to promote peace. A noble
ideal.
Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda television show has pretty
much won me over, which is something not too many things can do.
The show's effects, sets, and costumes are pretty cheesy, but the
writing and dialogue is pretty spot-on. The stories are intriguing.
The show's writers even incorporate some intriguing science fiction
theories, rather than throwing in the Standard Federation-brand
Warp Drive. What stands out the most are its characters. They are
laughable at first, but they are in-depth, complete with a past
history and personality to boot. (What? Voyager's
plots and personalities are shallow? When you think about it, the
show's most common quotes are "Hull breach on decks x
through y!" and "Shields down!" and "Computer!")
With
Kevin Sorbo's excellent acting and experience with action, a Yoda-like
figure (played by Brent Strait), smart and smart-ass Seamus Harper
(played by Gordon Woolvett) and a drop-dead gorgeous artificial
intelligence on-board the ship (played by Lexa Doig), Andromeda
stole the number one spot in the United States for series in syndication.
Take that, Xena!

So far, this page is very sparse, but try some other sites. They've
got more stuff than I will ever have.
SlipStreamWeb
has the most comprehensive news and episode synopses, as well as
an established and active newsgroup/forum.
Lady
Maigrey's Andromeda Ascendant has a compilation of so many
documents, essays, and original photograph stills. And the entire
website is maintained by one person! VERY impressive and a must-see.
AndromedaTVFans
could've been a great site with its slick design, but it's fallen
waaaay behind on the news and BBS systems.
AndromedaTV
is the official website, with official information, cast bios, interviews,
and video clips.
Lexa Doig Online
is devoted to anything related to the actress behind Rommie. Includes
photographs, articles, and a brief biography.
