Sometimes I have trouble moving things with the select area tool, is there a trick?

You have to drag from the top left corner to the bottom right. If you drag in any other direction the selection tool doesn't work.

Thank you so much! I've been just avoiding having to use that tool, but it's so useful when it works properly.
