I feel we should have a one-off event similar to KOTM, but where everyone makes Knytt Stories levels.
I'd like to gauge interest now, but I'm not saying it should happen any time soon. In fact, if it were to happen, it should definitely be after the 371-in-1 event. Opinions? Ideas?
I'm down.
I'm down.
I won't be.
Can't afford to buy MS Windows for my MacBook Pro, and too lazy to set up Wine (if it even works with this game). :P
I would've suggested setting up a Megazeux (how do you pronounce that, anyway?) trainwreck event instead, but I don't know a wit of Robotic, and I'm not even sure what I would make if I did. I was pretty lost trying to make something in ZZT as it was.
Knytt Stories runs in Wine.

I just figured that out, actually
I managed to successfully get an MMF game to run with sound in Wine, but no MIDI.
More bad news...
I can't get Knytt Stories to run. I'm using the latest Winebottler on Mac OS X 10.5.8 on a 2006 Core Duo Macbook Pro with 1GB of ram.
Does anyone have experience with running this version of Wine?
I do, but only on Linux. If
I do, but only on Linux.
If it's complaining about being unable to load an extension (I think it's Packer.mfx or something?), download msvcr71.dll and try again.

this is a good idea!
there's so little scripting in knytt stories that this would be kind of a klik of the month for level design. totally down.

I'd be up for it, if someone made a Knytt Stories tutorial.

Yeah, but I'm an absolute newbie at this so I'd like some more detailed tutoring.

Additionally, you can open any Knytt Stories level in the editor to see what makes them tick. There's no quick way to learn what all the objects do, so you'll have to just experiment there I'm afraid.

Two hours... doesn't seem like a lot of time. Maybe enough for, like, five screens. I think ideally we'd at least have something similar in length to "This Level is Unfinished" or whatever it's called.

There's also the option of a large collaborative level, like the selectbutton forums did.

well, part of the point is that you have to explore a single idea in the time you're given. this isn't for designing lengthy knyttventures. you can always continue to expand your story after the event is done.
can we go ahead and set a date for this? last saturday of the month?
The 27th? Sounds good to me.
The 27th? Sounds good to me. If someone else wants to set up the event for this I'd be happy with that, I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea 'cause I live in a craaazy time zone and I'm likely to screw something up.

Done.
And hey, nobody should be shy about putting up events! You can always edit them after posting if you happen to get the details wrong. (There's actually something wonky with the time/date picker and I always have to go back and fix it whenever I post one.)

Nice work! I'll make an event one day, I swear.
