ZZTV is a community project started by Dark FLR in 1998. ZZTers can create and contribute channels, which are small ZZT worlds that can contain any kind of content the author wishes: previews of upcoming games, artwork, minigames, stories, etc... These channels are traditionally given names that begin with the "#" symbol (e.g., "#bakedcheese"). All of the channels are sent to the person in charge of ZZTV; the project leader is then responsible for compiling the contributions into a series of volumes and releasing them to the public. ZZTVs are done at the rate of about one per year. Each ZZTV is numbered; for example, the current ZZTV-in-progress is ZZTV11. The person in charge of ZZTV changes fairly frequently; Zenith owned the project between issues 4-7 before passing the mantle on, with the more recent project leaders being MadTom, Commodore, and now bitbot.

This looks fucking raaaad
(did you mean to post it as a two-year-long event?)
Subject to change
ZZTV10 submissions spanned a three-year-long period
So is this a chainwreck type
So is this a chainwreck type deal where we form a waiting list and take turns adding things to the world like we did with Rainy Day Adventure?
Nah.
ZZTV has historically been a compilation of community submissions, not really an exquisite corpse like you're describing (although setting one up and submitting it as a channel would work fine.)
Designers should keep in
Designers should keep in mind that the goal isn't about length, not to say I don't want large entries, but the format is ideal for snippets, ideas that don't make whole games, or experiments. Multiple entries are allowed.

How to add sound?
I'm new to ZZT, and I threw together a silly little world for this. How do I add sound to it? I've been searching the internet for a guide/clue, but to no avail.
just the classic pc speaker

but with a little patience, you can convert music to ZZT format:

Back in 2012 I was working
Back in 2012 I was working on a Chip's Challenge ZZT but then kind of stopped. I might go ahead and revive it for this thing.
Obviously, there are challenges imposed by the ZZT format and behaviors - floor-acting tiles such as buttons will be hard to do on account of objects being solid in ZZT, and the screen format means I cannot fit full size 32x32 levels, so when it comes to porting over levels from the original Chip's Challenge I'm going to run into barriers. As a last resort I could always make my own levels.
Panel Tutorial
There are several great ways to use floor panels activate switches, doors, etc. in your games.
Here is a short tutorial I threw together.
Import the board into a world to view.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hopefully the code speaks for itself.
Let me know if you could use some explanations.
hey nice that you picked this back up
curious to see how it comes out
Thanks for your submissions!
keep em coming
The submission channel isn't working
Is ZZTV11 over or did everyone just lose interest?
None of the above

Wow
I had no idea ZZTV was still alive !
I started this thing as "Dark FLR" back in the day (1998 according to your post at http://zzt.org/fora/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3399&start=30 )
Totally figured out the hashtag thing way before it was popular :)
Wow indeed
It's nice to hear from you sir! You pioneered the hashtag alright.
Actually, it was issue #0 that was released in '98.

Update
This is taking on a classic arcade vibe! I suspect it's gonna be leaner and meaner more like the originals. In many ways, ZZTV is the spiritual successor to community projects like The Best of ZZT and 24 Hours of ZZT which are worth checking out. Will this ZZTV torch go out? IDK but I'm passing it back to its creator, our friend Dark FLR.
Hey, lemme pledge Supp ORC
This orc gives support. I kinda was against the idea, it being so long, but I mean, you did put some good work in the writeup and maintained it and expletive, wherever you are.. I had conditions to back a project like this due to history and keeping my word, no matter what it entails, it's a word.. Without it there'd be no sentences right?
But yeah, here's a sneak peak that should help people. They could even use what's here for their own endeavors, and if potential, use it for whatever they want. I'm gonna lean towards it going to this preserved for posterity Tim Sweeney Television X!!! It's like your favorite game having christmas remixes. Or a game you never played with Christmas Remixes.
I'm a little slow on the uptake chiming in just now, but I've got my reasons outside of some news and BitBot chiming in and joining the hideout and yeah, so here it is.. Be sure to be breath-staked , but i dunno, just really... take it in slowly, it's a lot to absorb.. I didn't filtrate the screenshots so be a WARE. but don't be in war about it.
Man I should preview that to see how it's looking so far.
WOW, so that's where we're at here. It's too much for me.
I can't do this yet. I have to meditate on all this.
What? the title picture is animated? How didn't I notice?
Okay I'm gonna do my best to persevere. Let's go out there and avenge Sweeney!
It's time to grooooow
Hey this is a good idea
Maybe not as a channel but a utility for one's own project... Nice tool kits in here!
I understand why you were against the idea at first being one of the originators but I took this on purely out of responsibility. I appreciate your support!
Grow baby grooooow

i messed around with ZZT a while back, anybody got tutorials/tips to help me out... well if anything i have about two years...

Tinker with the ZZWORKBOOK if you like
here and it'd be cool if people post /revise / make better. There's really a very limited amount of ZZLEARNS and the ones done are either programming oriented or about polishing a game so it looks like what it would look like if it was in a quiver of the trends of whatever year the game came out. Example citation needed. I'd challenged those learned about the thread to come up with a decent guide for those who are completely new to kinda pave the way for other budding designers of the same who may end up the same caliber some day, but hey it's all good.
Hey
The zzworkbook has been added and is a nice conclusion to this file, bringing the grand total of ZZTV "volumes" to 27.
I'll maintain this thing for at least another round so send us your stuff people!

ZZT
Hi guys. I used to help manage the old zzt.org with xabbott like 15 years ago. My username was Dragonlord. I'm happy to see ZZT stuff still around, even if it's only a small group of people using it.
I remember ZZTV. I think I made a channel once. I'm going to dig around and see if I can find my old, never-finished projects and maybe just mess around with them a bit. What's normally used now for editing? ZZT 4.0?
Still a few tools
zzt 4.0/4.1 pretty much just upped the k limit of zzt worlds, like if you want a heavy engine on one board, or just have a lot to say. Did some other stuff too. It was the inspiration for Plastic too so that's cool.
Try with kevedit or if your computer can handle compatibility, zap for mouse drawing. just if you're using 7 or above try not to alt+tab in and out of kevedit too much and click on it, otherwise it gets mad. Obviously ZZTAE is still cool if compatibility works as it's the only one you can copy and paste f4 text into (haven't tried with zap)
But yeah, cool. See if you can uncover the second it's dino game while you're at it. It'd be cool to see what happens in the series.
Ahoy there, idiots!
What an accomplishment to get this through the door! Thank you all for making it happen.

i tried this for the first time and i couldn't figure out how to get past the channel selection to the actual channels
oh well
The controls are as follows:
Up/Down = Change channel
Left/Right = Select channel
note
that you should suggest he presses p to play first. you could have that player next to passages on the title if you wanna bypass p to play too i guess. I might've been one of the few people that used that as a feature. Thanks to WiL
