Learn your States and Capitals of the USA!
Break the walls of the patriarchy AGAIN!
Learn your ABC's AGAIN.

This game requires some knowledge of the United States.
If you aren't from the USA, I don't mind if you print off a cheat sheet.
If you're from the USA, I mind if you print off a cheat sheet, but, you know, it's fine if you do.
You are in control of your own destiny.

YES, if you want to put this on your site I included the MMF2 file because I don't have the flash/html exporter.

This is a big one.

lose please prosperity, those were the 3 in the directions i found. Course you might have used loose due to context with the other 2 times you used it. It's a mystery of eits.

I'd like to say I played all of it, but i mean, this is like going on vacation. When I'm cruising around with my sprite I forget who and where I am and what objectives I'm here for. This game is fairly long as well and is suitable for all ages. There's a lot of attention to detail on what songs are attributed where, the overall interface, and I'm sure there are easter eggs abound but if I citate the one I found right off the bat it won't be super excited for everyone else who jumps in, but it's super early and yeah, I haven't played much far into it yet. The sprite work on the main cursor is phenomenal and I'm sure overall it is though I haven't finished. Now I know why the Mr. Cat series guy praised your work on that.

Uhh, the voice is loud, potentially louder than the background music. If it was up to me I'd, well, you don't have to normalize the wavs or anything but I'd say 70% would be about right balance, so 70/100.. Not the review, what I've seen so far surpasses and surprises me. I'm thinking at volume 70. But, this is the part where I say "but it's your game, your movement of teaching and replenishing our state capital knowledge" and yeah, future generations could benefit from that. Current generations too, so maybe the volume thing is necessary. You want to get the letters across. This is a non-issue though because all I would have to do is change my wav volume to my desire, since midis play at different volumes on all devices. Nowadays the on-board sound mapper is more universal. I'd even daresay a volume control, maybe - and + if not used for anything. Are they used for anything? I should find some more easter eggs. Or even sillier would be like "hey, the volume to background visual is loud, diy it in the volume control on the bottom right icon thing" lol. THAT'LL SHOW THEM.

But yeah, you've got a good product here and it at least meets the criteria. As far as playing online you'd have less control over the music as you would have to mp3 the midis and it seems like there's a unique one for each level. I wouldn't know where to begin starting the conversion, but then there are ways. By online acquiring them online and then playing them with a connection online is enough i guess.

This comment is a big one!

Again, I always love reading your comments. #1 fan. I'm glad you found all the misspellings. :-) I'm wondering what you'll think of the whole thing if you finish it.

SPOILER ALERT (about the length of this game): I can beat the game in 2 minutes. I like to however not rush and play the game a bit more and it takes me 10-8 minutes, but that's probably because I know all the capitals by heart and how the levels work. I had a friend come over the other day and play it and he took 20+ minutes. So, it is possible to beat this game quickly, and probably under 2 minutes, I guess it's just figuring out how to do that!

playing the game now

I noticed that when you try to drive from Connecticut to Rhode Island, you end up in Delaware. As someone who has driven from Connecticut to Rhode Island several times in the past I find this OFFENSIVE>

everythingstaken's picture

Huh

You must have done something special for that to happen. Hmmmmmm!

ihavefivehat's picture

It happened after I had

It happened after I had already completed Delaware, but before completing Rhode Island. or I'm just special!>>>>>>>

other thoughts on the game:

I love this rendition of Memphis Tennessee by Chuck Berry. Are all the songs related to the state somehow?
I love watching your friend rabbit or dog's ears flapping in the breeze. Great animation!
I love Obama's explanation for why it's important to learn state capitals.................
Tall, a hassle, Flo Rida!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Final Fantasy VI music.................................................................................................................... nice!

but yeah I finished it! what a cute ending! I loved just cruising around the USA, listening to midi tunes. It was fun!

another problem, though.. my cat kept walking in front of my screen while I was playing and messing me up! please patch that out in the next update! other than that and the delaware thing- NO COMPLAINTS- NICE ONE!

Easter Egg

I'm glad you liked it! Also, yes, the songs are all directly related to the states.

There is a secret way of playing the game, and I'll let you in on a hint, the Delaware-Rhode Island thing was part of it.

I'll patch your cat out in the next update too. >:-)

I finished this without

I finished this without cheating at all. The quiz screens are my favourites, so I'm sad they show up so much less often. I'm interested in this secret way of playing, how can I hope to uncover it?

everythingstaken's picture

Congratulations!

Okay, since it seems like no one has stumbled upon it I'll give you a hint. Michelle gives a hint at the beginning of the game about the thief. I'll give you one more hint if you're not quite sure what her hint is, but I think that's a good one.

AMAZING!

WONDERFUL GAME! I have never even seen a game more american than this, and thru it i learn the capital of new york is "ALBANY"! How do i use a MMF2 file?

This is a good question

a .mf2 file is the event file that brings all the scenes/levels/etc together. if you have multimedia fusion or potentially even a copy of the games factory, you can view the files included. if you are interested in yet another game creator, I think some of us have some extra keys in our library around, for 2.0. Nifty little program, and my first reboot into game development outside of ascii/ansi game addons. In ways I think they are more reasonable than some other programs in learning curve but if possible i'd saying going klik n play and then up was my approach. everyone's got a different one though.

!

I could just record all the midis as mp3's and then give the mmf2 file with midis to someone if they are willing to compile it all.

:-o
