Today (in my timezone, at least) marks 10 years since VVVVVV came out! 10 is a slightly more special number than usual here because VVVVVV was originally going to be called vvvvvvvvvv (this is my excuse for not doing this four years ago).
To celebrate, why don't we try making some levels for it? VVVVVV: Make and Play Edition is free! Games, art, and other works inspired by VVVVVV are also welcome. But if you do wind up making a level, why not post it on the distractionware forums too?
I've set this to run for a little over two weeks, and I'm vvvvvvery keen to see what comes out of it!

Ved
Here's a fanmade v6 editor I found on the internet a while ago. Using unofficial editors in place of official editors, even if they're kind of crappy, I feel might slightly go against the spirit of gt? but offering anyway in case anyone finds it useful (I probably will)
https://tolp.nl/ved/download
Nah, using unofficial
Nah, using unofficial editors is totally cool! Not wanting to overwhelm people was the only reason I didn't mention Ved and other tools, but I'm glad you brought it up in the comments.
ved isn't "kind of crappy",
ved isn't "kind of crappy", it's sooooo much better than the official editor that it DESERVES to be called the official editor instead of being merely an unofficial editor
take it from me, ive made levels for 5 years, ved is absolutely 100% better in every way
I interpreted ncrecc as
I interpreted ncrecc as meaning that because this is "Glorious Trainwrecks", there's an expectation to use tools that are "kind of crappy"? Which I don't personally feel is the case, but it's understandable.
I meant the official editor
I meant the official editor was kind of crappy, not ved. What I was trying to say is that it's disputable whether what's officially in the game being less efficient than a fan-made program is justification to just use the fan-made program, considering how gt regards sloppiness as an art to some extent.
I like how not long after
I like how not long after this event was announced, terry released the entire game code. Even though I don't think it'd be feasable to release a whole edit of the game, it could totally change the direction of the jam https://twitter.com/terrycavanagh/status/1215648516556623872
This jam even got mentioned
This jam even got mentioned on the blog post :D http://distractionware.com/blog/2020/01/vvvvvv-is-now-open-source/
"VVVVVV’s source code is now public, 10 year anniversary jam happening now! "
PS Terry Cavanagh if you are reading this I love Dicey Dungeons :>
Submitting a game from before start date?
I've got a VVVVVV fan game that I made a few weeks ago, before the event started. Can I submit it, or is this just for things made during the event time period?
yeah, you can submit
yeah, you can submit anything you want, as long as it's vvvvvv-related! doesnt matter if it was made before
