Made in 2015. I was debating whether or not I should upload this to GT when I first came here, since it was so amateur, unpolished, and doesn't exactly represent me as a designer anymore. Now that I've been here a little while, I realized that this is exactly where it belongs.
Description from my website:
"Birch is a small puzzle-platformer about codependency, made in GameMaker Studio.
This is technically the first video-game I made seriously. I was heavily inspired by Jonathan Blow’s Braid, and I wanted to be able to use puzzles in an artistic and meaningful way. I’m writing this a couple of years after the game’s creation. There are plenty of things that I would have done differently if I were to make the game again, but I’m genuinely proud of my work on this project, and I can think of a couple of levels that are especially good."
This is my first post here, please let me know if I'm doing anything weird or frowned upon in this submission. I figured I'd introduce myself with a game. I made this game in 2016, uploaded it to my own website about 6 weeks ago, and now I'm posting it here. Since the max file size here is 200MB, I'm linking the dropbox file that contains the game instead of uploading it. It's windows only (sorry.) The description below is copy/pasted from my website.

Work N Progress is a mini-game about success. It was made in Unreal Engine 4.
I started working on Work N Progress back in January of 2016. I thought that mazes were inherently a faulty format for puzzle design. The project started as a curiosity; I wondered whether or not I could exploit the faults of mazes in an artistic way. After 11 months of on/off development, it is now my most introspective and personal work to date. In November of 2016, Work N Progress became one of 4 finalists for the UNC Arts Innovation Award. In March and April of 2018, this game was featured in the Glorious Trainwrecks x Babycastles exhibit in New York.
Work N Progress is an abstract art object, the experience of playing it is merely a consequence of its existence, not the art itself.

Let me know what you think!
Sequel to January 2015 loosely based on embellishments about TotalBummer's life during October 2015 and not during October 2015 and real world events.
