Clark Stanley's Van Racer
"THE STRONGEST AND BEST RACER KNOWN FOR PAIN AND LAMENESS... GOOD FOR MAN AND BEAST... IS GOOD FOR EVERYTHING A RACER OUGHT TO BE GOOD FOR."
Holy crap, go over 240 mph in a minivan. Race against 15 other minivans. Race against a friend in split-screen mode.
Hopefully your computer's powerful enough to run this at 30 frames per second. I wish I were joking.
Created for the Grid Grind Jam, combining the elements "van," "garden," and "Clark Stanley."
This game originally came to me in a dream - a 2.5d racing game like F-Zero or Super Mario Kart, but with minivans. "This could be hilarious," I thought. I was right. I proposed "van" as an item for the Grid Grind jam with the explicit intention of making this game a reality. I did not expect the snake oil salesman tie-in.
Windows only.
Claire Schroeder made the music. It's great!

I think my favourite feature
I think my favourite feature is that colliding with a wall doesn't do anything to kill my speed, and I could hit one at 200mph and then just keep going at 200mph afterwards- if it killed it I would just be losing momentum constantly. bouncing off walls and cars was nothing to me... until the very end of the lap where I got beat up right before the finish line, knocked into last place, and finished in 3rd place
I like the calming music.... and the engine noises. it's like these vans just live in this peaceful world and race for thier own enjoyment, going rrrrrrrrr down the track
Motor Mouthin'
From the count-down to the engine revving to the impact crash sounds, it takes me back to when I raced around on the floor with Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels.
Nice work...! :)
I love the minivan models,
I love the minivan models, especially the textures! Reminds me of one of those old Micro Machines racing games.
Best I got so far is 3rd place in 1 player mode.
