At my autism place one of the workers has a guide dog named River. I thought that was cool. I haven't really done anything with this kinda stuff since I tried coding in middle school, so mostly everything is just me learning
made for sylvie's jam 1, as such it fits the following theme:
"A game that you hate but it has a cute kitten in it, so it's impossible to insult the kitten. The kitten can ride a boat sometimes. When you try to buy from the shop there's a random chance something bad happens. The boat is hard to control precisely. When you die, you have to rebuild the boat by playing a puzzle game style sequence. There is an enemy (jellyfish) who appears when the timer runs out and tries to get you. There must be island gameplay and boat gameplay. The goal is only to get money and buy expensive items."
an attempt at recreating sylvie-style frustration in a world of cute things. a fansequel to cute jump (but also uses none of the mechanics from cute jump that weren't already in jumper (boats are kind of like birds though)).
Contains mildly existentialist dialogue. Some jankiness may also result in sprites rapidly flickering position (if you enter a boat while standing right next to bouncy tiles), or two adjacent rooms rapidly flickering on the screen (if you move into the "seam" of walls vertically connecting two rooms).
see also https://wibi-fortis.itch.io/cute-jump-2-sequel-2 . that page also has the .love version, to be opened with love2d, in case you're not on windows.
(fixed lack of any levelsets to play, redownload if lack of content proved disappointing)
also download the "sount drack"
Made in one day so it's kinda messy and wonky but hopefully still kinda fun?

Made with Game Maker, so it's Windows only, I think? Sorry!
This is my first ever actual game made with Game Maker so if it lags or crashes horribly or causes any other sort of mischief, I'm so sorry!!
Please tell me and I'll try my best to fix it as soon as possible!
Thank you so much for downloading and playing this little thing.
I'd love it if you'd post your high scores!
The game will save your best score in a .ini file, which Game Maker hides away somewhere I don't even know. (I tried to make it save to the game's folder, but couldn't figure it out) If you want to delete that, just press the 'Delete' key on the title screen and it will delete your score and the file for you!
Hey, if you like setting people up for dates, you might like this game!
PLAY WITH SOUND ON. Please.
A twin-stick bullet hell shooter sequenced to music! It's just like being in a music video!
* 100 points for enemies!
* If an enemy touches an explosion, it will explode too, setting off a chain reaction! This awards a bonus 100 for each explosion!
* Explosions will also destroy fireballs! 10 points for every fireball destroyed!
* -500 points for getting hit!
You can't die! Instead, the aim is to earn as many points as you can before the song ends (the green bar at the bottom represents song length). Try not to get hit! That tip's for free!
SUPPORTS XBOX GAMEPADS! WOW! Keyboard controls are the arrow keys and WASD.

Avoid cats, pick up poo.
When I was a kid (10? 11?) I got a copy of HURG for the ZX Spectrum ( http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=HURG ). While I'd made little games and things in BASIC, HURG let me make "real games" - the sort of thing you could show your mates. I used this newfound power one day to make fun of another kid whose kitchen was always filled with cat crap. Oh, how we laughed.
Because I still feel bad about making a kid feel bad (sorry Darren!) I felt the best way to atone would be to make some other kids feel happy. So I asked my 6 year-old daughter and the neighbour kids (8 and 9 I think?) if they wanted to make a game. Their eyes lit up and graphics and sound effects and ideas spewed out of them, and their enthusiasm was only slightly dampened by my explanation that the game we'd be making would be simple. That it involved poo sealed the deal, and within a couple of hours we had everything ready to go. It's fairly similar to the original game I made, though I don't think I ever got around to adding the cats.
Move all the kittens to the GREEN SQUARE!
Use ARROWS to move.
